			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Picture this scene. We were in gross anatomy lab when we were asked to cut open the chest cavity of our cadaver. Feeling squeamish yet?</p>
<p>What happened next was a bit of a shock. Cadavers have been soaked in formaldehyde for at least six months before they get to the lab so you might imagine that they smell like formaldehyde on the outside as well as on the inside. That wasn&#8217;t the case.</p>
<p>When we opened the chest cavity the first thing I could smell was not formaldehyde. I could smell cigarette smoke. It was a real eye opener. Imagine my surprise when I found that this former smoker&#8217;s lungs were black through and through. There were no pink spots to be found. The lungs were black on the outside and they were black on the inside.</p>
<p>After slicing through one of the lungs, we found that it was the same degree of blackness all the way through. Everything was black. I understood right then and there what smoking could do to the human body.</p>
<p>When I was a young boy, I remember that my great aunt had emphysema. I can still see the oxygen canister that was ever present in her home. It was never far away. Life has many hardships but I think some of the bitterest are the ones we bring upon ourselves.</p>
<p>Practically everyone knows that smoking is bad and yet so many people continue to smoke. If you are a smoker you probably have thought of quitting many times. Nicotine is very addictive. Yet, people can and do quit.</p>
<p>My mother was a smoker. I was stationed far away in Hawaii for my first tour in the Navy and it would still bother me whenever I thought about her smoking. One day I sent her a subliminal tape designed to help her quit. In a few weeks she reported that she did indeed quit.</p>
<p>Smoking increases the risk of developing many diseases such as cancer, emphysema and heart disease. Believe it or not, even the possibility of developing gum disease is increased by smoking.</p>
<p>The cost of cigarettes is pretty high too. I was in the store the other day and the person next to me purchased a pack of cigarettes. I was surprised to hear the clerk ask for four dollars and twenty-five cents. Some people smoke a pack or more per day. The cost adds up. Seems like cigarettes are easy prey for the taxing authorities.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know how you feel, but it appears that there are plenty of good reasons <a href="http://www.igaveupsmoking.net/tag/to-quit-smoking/#utm_source=feed&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=feed" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with to quit smoking">to quit smoking</a>. I still have a relative that smokes and I hope she quits too. I&#8217;d like to see her preserve and protect her health.</p>

<p><strong>Zyban</strong>-This is an anti-depressant that has recently been given to smokers because it has shown to have some benefit to help quit smoking. Studies have shown an initial success rate of 36% upon completion of the program and 30% one year later. Zyban is available by prescription only and has several side effects.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a story of a man who quit smoking and now enjoys the pleasure of life more than before. He left smoking due to her 5 year old adorable daughter, who became a passive victim of her smoking. </p>
<p>As soon as he enters his home he started to fire a cigarette without having the idea that little lungs cannot tolerate the carbon monoxide particles contained in the cigarette. Every time he smoked the little lady started to cough and got ill having problem with breathing. </p>
<p>He and her wife took it as a condition due to change in weather or allergy from dust. </p>
<p>They kept ignoring her condition when one day he was at home enjoying his weekend off from work. Her princess started to cough and then she was breathing hard. </p>
<p>They took her to hospital where the doctor declared it as asthma resulting from the weak nose filters have become so weak that they cannot intake the 4000 chemicals contained in a cigarette. </p>
<p>The doctor revealed this secret by smelling the father’s shirt even from a distance and can tell that he is a smoker. </p>
<p>It took him by a shock that it was due to his severe addiction that her daughter is suffering from these attacks. </p>
<p>The doctor briefed them about what happen when a non smoker especially a child is exposed to a harsh smoke of cigarette. He told them that a patient experiences stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, and nausea and in the later stages some sort of cancer like lungs or esophagus cancer. </p>
<p>When a person smokes in front of someone who is physically incapable of fighting the harsh chemicals of this smoke he or she develops an irritation in the airways, which gets puffy, started to shrink and get filled with mucus. </p>
<p>The doctor also narrated that a second hand smoker is prone to asthma trigger and what happens during that condition is what is evident in their daughter’s condition like. The doctor said that if you hang out with your family and friends, others are more likely to have asthma symptoms. </p>
<p>And whatever happened to their daughter during the last few weeks it was due to the killing smoke of cigarette. After the time of two hours the physical health of their daughter started to recover and she was much better after when they returned home. </p>
<p>Throughout driving the way home he realized that it was his fault that her daughter is suffering from the problem of breathing. He also noticed that it was due to his change in job that he comes home earlier and smokes in his home which was not used to be the case. </p>
<p>So he committed himself to leave smoking and live a positive life starting with another job for the health and survival of his family. Also his family supported him in leaving this addiction and now after two years he is a changed man much positive about life enjoying his better quality time with his family. </p>
<p>And he narrates leaving smoking actually made him living a true life with his family, that now he is alive.</p>
